Mr. Van Briesen

Welcome to Mr. VB's website.  I am currently in my 14th year of teaching 4th grade at AES and have enjoyed every one of them.  I hail from Iowa originally as I graduated from George-Little Rock HS in George, IA.  From there I headed to Nebraska where I received my degree in education from Wayne State College in Wayne, NE.  Upon graduation I headed to Tennessee and South Dakota before settling down in good ole' Adrian.  I recently received my Masters Degree in Education and also my K-12 Principal's License from Saint Mary's University of Minnesota. Besides teaching I am also an assistant coach for the high school football team, middle school girls' basketball coach, and middle school baseball coach.  My wife Angie and I, along with our children Kyra (7), Caden (5), and Sydnie (21 months), live on an acreage northeast of Adrian.

 Announcements Minimize

Welcome 4th graders to a new year of school.  I am looking forward to working with each one of you!

Remember to keep reading as part of our Accelerated Reading program. All of you should be very familiar with how the AR program works. Set your goals high and work on that word count in order to receive AR prizes as the year goes on. Also keep in mind that AR is a grade all by itself this year! Fifty percent of your AR grade is based on points while the other fifty percent is based on comprehension.

Please remember that children can make math corrections on any math tests.  Each one corrected can be worth 1/2 of a point.   This can make a huge difference in your child's grade.

I am always looking for any parent volunteers who would like to help label and enter accelerated reader books into my classroom data base, make copies, laminate items, etc.  Please let me know if you are interested.

If you ever have any questions, please be sure to drop me a note and I will get back to you as soon as possible.  Let's have a great year together!
