PTO Meeting Minutes
Wednesday, Sept. 30, 2009
3:40 PM/Elementary Commons
The PTO meeting was led by President Stacey Hokeness. Discussion was held on possible projects for the coming year. Fall Festival will be held Oct. 26th from 5:30-7:00. A meal, games, and prizes will be provided for the entire family. Donations will be taken for a projector system for the Elementary Commons.
Treasurer’s report was given and accepted.
Several requests for money were discussed with the following action being taken:
· PTO will pay $122.18, the expense for the ‘welcome back’ rolls, juice and coffee for staff on Monday, August 31. It was decided that PTO would pay this each fall, up to $150.00.
· PTO will pay ½ of the request for bus expense for 1st grade to attend the “Henny Penny” production in Worthington. Because the tickets were already ordered, PTO agreed to $57.00 (half of the request), but felt that PTO is not in the business of funding field trips as there is not enough money, and does not want to start setting a presedence.
· Librarian Sherrilyn Klaassen had a request for die cuts for the die cut machine in the library. PTO decided to give $400.00 towards her request.
· PTO will donate $1000.00 towards the “Projector system” needed for the commons area at the Elementary. The current system in no longer functioning.
· PTO will give $400.00 towards ink cartridges for the Elementary color printer.
Other action taken:
Russ received information from Nobles Cooperative Electric who is making available to the school Compact Fluorescent (CFL) light bulbs for $2.00 per bulb. For each one sold, the school would keep $1.00. On a price check with Wal-Mart, their 15 watt CFL is priced at $6.44 per bulb, and the 26 watt CFL is $8.97. It was decided that Russ order 500 15 watt (60 watt equivalent) and 500 26 watt (100 watt equivalent) bulbs to be available at Parent-Teacher Conferences in November, with the possibility of orders being taken for additional bulbs if needed.
There will be a movie night on Friday, Jan. 22, at 7:00 PM. This is free to students in grades K-5. A basket for donations will be there, with money going towards PTO projects
Next PTO meeting will be held on Monday, Oct. 19, at 7:00 PM. Future meeting dates are Monday, Nov. 16, Monday, January 18, and Monday, February 8. Watch the school website as more information becomes available.
