Welcome to the AES Speech Room! This has been another busy yet successful year for the kids. It's always so much fun looking back to the beginning of year to see how much the students have all grown and changed!
My position is unique in that I get to work with kids with a variety of speech and language needs from birth to 21 years of age. The students that I work with need to qualify for speech services under the Minnesota special education criteria. Students that qualify are identified through a referral and assessment process in which a team comes together to make decisions about evaluation and program planning. That team can include the regular education teacher, special education teacher, preschool teacher, occupational therapist, principal, parents, etc.
I am fortunate to have the opportunity to see some of my students grow throughout their school years instead of only having them for a single year. The rewards of my job are too many to list!
