It's never too early to start preparing for college! Here are things to know to help you get started:

Learn about different types of careers that interest you (tests like the EXPLORE that 8th graders take will help with this)

Talk to Mrs. Krueger and your teachers about classes to take in 9th grade and the importance of getting good grades

Get involved in activities (such as sports, performing arts, volunteer work, etc)

Explore different types of postsecondary institutions (colleges, universities, tech schools, etc)

Save for college

Bully Prevention Program, Grades 6-8

This has been a great program for the middle school students! We have discussed characteristics of students who bully and those who are bullied, feelings that go along with those characteristics, defined bullying and reporting, and have been able to role play and practice how to handle bullying situations. Students learned 7 'Power Tools' to use when they see bullying happening:

1. Word Power
2. Find a Friend
3. Run Away
4. School Rule
5. Skipping CD
6. Surprise Agreement
7. Leave 'em Laughing

We also discussed ways to report bullying behavior and school policies regarding bullying. Thanks middle school students for your commitment to making this program work for you! Keep it up!!

October 19 - Kick off 6-week cyber-bullying series to take place grades 6-8

Groups

Group counseling sessions are available for MS students, broken up into a Boys Group and a Girls Group. Sessions occur once a week during 8th hour. A variety of topics are addressed, based upon the needs of the group. Please see form under "documents" and contact Mrs. Krueger if interested.
